Math major Question?

Having taught for 21 years (the last 10 as a high school math teacher), I can say that, while knowing content is definitely important, it is far more important to know how to manage a clroom and deliver lessons that will motivate and excite students. If students feel that they are in an environment where it is okay to make mistakes and where the teacher loves the subject, they are more likely to develop a tolerance for math (it is amazing to find how many students are math phobic). If you have questions about the clroom, feel free to write. I had to retire in April of 2006 on disability. I miss the clroom, but I don't miss all of the administrative stresses and "extras" that go along with being a teacher. Good luck with your studies and with your chosen career. We need good teachers who are pionate about their subject!
